| Steam locomotives began to be used on the New York City elevated railways in the late 1870s. The New York Elevated Railroad was born in 1872, was built to standard gauge and began rapid expansion in 1875. This exceptional city scene features several horse drawn wagons and two horse drawn trolleys. Date and photographer have not been identified for the stereo card that was scanned. |
