Old Colony Railroad no.48, a 4-4-0 locomotive, is seen here at a roundhouse in winter. Incorporated in 1838, the Old Colony R.R. became an extensive system that served southeastern Massachusetts. The Old Colony Railroad went out of existence when it was leased by the New York, New Haven & Hartford RR in March, 1893. Date, exact locality and photographer have not been identified.

Resolution is 1327 x 996 pixels, 140 dpi for the digital file available for commercial license. This digital file has been restored. The unrestored orginal digital file and backup copy were lost due to file corruption . The original photograph may be unique.
