| The Merty B. Crowley was built 1907 by Cobb & Butler Co., of Rockland, Maine. Huge six masted schooners were coal freighters, built to carry significant tonnage with a small crew. Coal was loaded at Hampton Roads, Virginia or Delaware Bay for delivery in Maine. The Merty B. Crowley ended her days when wrecked on Great Wasque Shoal, Martha's Vineyard in a heavy fog January, 1910. |
