WANDERER breaks up

On August 25, 1924, Captain Antone T. Edwards anchored the 'Wanderer' off Cuttyhunk Island, Massachusetts, so as to go ashore for badly needed additional crewman. A gale sprung up at night with 35mph winds and dragging her anchors, the 'Wanderer' was driven onto the shoreline rocks. The next morning brought forth a sad day, as the crew abandoned the last whaler to sail out of New Bedford, Massachusetts.
